Novelty 78s for August - I - The Posthumous Prankster

Right, first off, thanks to all of your suggestions for covers of songs on Please Please Me; as they say on local radio, 'Keep 'em coming.' I'm gradually working my way through your suggestions.

In the meantime, back to business as usual.

I've mentioned before that I have a particular fondness for 78s from the Eclipse label: to me, the records just sound cosy.

Ain't It Grand is a comedy song that has been recorded a number of times, but here the sound effects are particularly imaginative.

Also, unlike a lot of comedy records of its time, it's still retains its bite, I daresay because cynicism as an attitude has proved itself immune to the ravages of time.
