Camp 1960s Britpop

"Camp" is rather a loose concept to be grouping these tracks together. But it will do.

First up, a number from proto-Bowie Anthony Newley and Leslie Bricusse's rather dated musical Stop the World - I Want to Get Off.

Then we have The Dynamic Frankie Vaughan, an album that almost had the hayseed seller refusing to sell me the album with the words, "You're taking the piss, aren't you? All the old women used to like this."

Incidentally, Vaughan alone is worth sitting through the Marilyn Monroe film Let's Make Love. And his version of Green Door is not merely definitive but also transcendent. I'm not sure, however, whether his Istanbul beats They Might Be Giants' version.

Finally here's something from Anne Shelton. There's a pleasing inconsistency to the listing in this song. It seems to be trying to bug me - but I won't let it. At least not when the cover photograph is so winning.
