The Zoo Story is Edward Albee's first play. Obviously its influence has spread further than its absurdist roots - there's something of the chemistry between Lemmon and Matthau in The Apartment about the central characters (although you could argue that Beckett's Waiting for Godot also mines the double-act formula). It's full of menace and machismo and... tickling.
