Ronald Frankau Film Clips

For those of you who liked the earlier Frankau Post...

Hot off the Press: Recently quite a few clips of Frankau performing on film have been uploaded at the BBC Pathe site. It's less risque than solo Frankau, but it's novel seeing Frankau sing and, moreover, sing in time to his accompanist, something he never managed to do on records.

Here are the direct links to a few that I really like:

Frankau and Monte Crick
Sample joke from the routine: "Do you file your nails when you play the piano?"
"Course I file my nails. Don't you file yours?"
"No, I throw mine away."

Chinese Nights
Among other things, Frankau recites a tongue-twisting poem about Asia Minor. File under un-PC.

Frankau on Shakespeare
Begins with Frankau being interrupted as he says, "...so he hypnotised the bear..."

Listening Inn  - The Midnight News
A 1943 clip in which Frankau knocks the way the war is being reported. ("There's a shortage of spam in York.") The newsreader bit seems to look forward to The Two Ronnies.
