The Yarmouth Song - Ronnie Ronalde (1956)


This does little more than list a few (lamentably generic) reasons why we should consider Great Yarmouth the El Dorado of the South East coast. It sounds like a rather flat effort at that odd genre, the promotional 45.

However, it's tempting to imagine the writer of this song (Lewis) shooting up from his writing desk with inspiration, scampering over to the piano stool and brushing aside his Byronic locks before tentatively touching the keys for an appropriate melody to complement the following lyrics:

Yarmouth, wonderful Yarmouth
The place that has everything

Ronnie is still performing and I saw him in the UK this year in his one man show.
